I almost took magic mushrooms by accident when I visited Yunnan. This has made me more curious about how magic mushrooms affect the human body and what this dramatic psychedelic journey down the rabbit hole would look like.

Instead of replaying the illusions through a human perspective, I created a story that shows a magic mushroom’s journey inside the human body. I discovered the beauty of the mushroom’s texture and gestures, then experimented with them with different materials and created new patterns and textures. I imagine this journey like an adventure; it includes five islands. It starts on eye island, where you begin to have an illusion. Then on nose island, one starts to transform. You get lost on ear island, bursts onto the island of the mouth and then is reborn on hand island at the end.

This project portrays a small ball going through the adventurous process of tripping – from eating mushrooms to hallucinating to experiencing the climactic explosion and rebirth. This is like an adventure down a rabbit hole. The last mushroom map delivers a dramatic turn, telling the audience who controls everything.
